Only 5% away from our goal!

“The first 95% was the easy part,” Campaign Chairman Drew Rowe kidded the crowd after announcing this year’s campaign results so far. 4 divisions landed in the 100%+ club raising more than their goal: where we are today is all thanks to all of YOU!

With 5% left and all funds raised supporting our 22 non-profit agencies that serve Hamblen County, please consider contributing if you can. GivingTuesday is just around the corner next week: you can trust that a gift to United Way of Hamblen County is one that serves your local community! https://unitedwayhamblen.org/ways-to-give/

Don Rogers was tickled to serve as a guest plotter alongside Executive Director Gary Matthews. Don is also a past recipient of the Joe Q. Dougherty Volunteer of the Year Award in 2008. Auditors Will Gregg & Amy Hemminger of Purkey Carter Compton Swann & Carter were ready to roll, too!

Guest speaker Terry Hackney, the man of a thousand stories and many more to go, flanked by Board President Carl Storms and Campaign Chairman Drew Rowe

Our guest speaker was Terry Hackney, a familiar face around town with 46 years in Morristown’s banking industry and 33 years serving on the board of directors & volunteering for M.A.T.S (Ministerial Association Temporary Shelter). To know Terry is to appreciate his natural ability to tell stories. The kind of stories that pull you in with realness and humor, reminding you that we’re all human and figuring this thing called ‘LIFE’ out. For Terry, two of the best decisions he’s ever made have been focused on service. Service in the US Army and the impact of relationships built and memories made through his years of service with MATS.

Terry left the crowd with a final thought, “If you’re not volunteering with one of these agencies that this United Way supports, I encourage you to do so. It will change your life…just like it did mine.” 💙💛❤️

Thank you for your service, Terry, the laughs, and your thoughtful words!
